Team Culture, Sportsmanship and Code of Conduct
ALL GATORS Coaches, Swimmers, Parents, Representatives, Officials, and Spectators are to engage in respectful and safe behaviors at all GATORS Events including but not limited to: Practice, Meets, and Social Events
RESPECTFUL, SAFE, SPORTSMAN LIKE BEHAVIORS are detailed in the MHSL CODE OF CONDUCT
Team Culture
GATORS Swim team welcomes swimmers with all abilities and expereinces from beginner to year round club team swimmer
It is the goal of the GATORS swim team to support, develop and strenghten each swimmers skill set
Coaches work with swimmers to set goals for the season
GATORS strives to be a safe and positive social environment for all participants

Sportsmanship
GATORS Swim team has a reputation for having fun, supporting swimmers of all abilities, great sportsmanship and running an efficient enjoyable meet for all of our competitiors, spectators and coaches
Coaches work with our swimmers on sportsmanship every day at practice so that when we arrive at meets they know exactly what is expected of them as a team mate and competetor
It is our team goal every season to be awarded the DIVISION SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD
Code of Conduct
At regsistration Swimmers, Parents, Coaches, Officials sign that they will abide by the MHSL Code of Conduct
Parents are to review the Code of Conduct with thier swimmers
Coaches review Code of Conduct with swimmers during practice at the beginning of the season
Coaches provide reminders of Code of Conduct througout the season
GATORS Concerns/Greivance Policy and Procedures
IF at any time during the season you have concerns about team culture, coaching, swimmers progress or other team related issues:
Address your concern with your swimmers Age Group Coach First
Alert the Head Coach of your Concern
Please refrain from approaching coaches on deck at practice or at a meet while they are actively coaching
Reach out to coaching staff via email linked to coaches profile or contact form on the Team Website
Coaches will respond to concern within 48 hours (please indicate if you request contact sooner)
Reach out to GATORS Board
It is the goal of the GATORS BOARD that at least one Board member is present at all GATORS events including practice
Approach GATORS BOARD member directly at an event or through the contact form on the team website
GATORS BOARD will respond to concern within 48 hours (please indicate if you request contact sooner)
Resolution Process
Age Group Coach, Head Coach or Board member will respond to initial concern in person, via email or phone call
Follow up meeting to involve age group coach, head coach and board member if needed
Resolution to be reached by all parties invovled
Board to be aware of all concerns and resolution to concerns raised during the season
GATORS Code of Conduct Violation Policy and Procedures
If you see something, Say Something
IF at any time during the season during a GATORS EVENT including practice, swim meets, social event you experience or observe disrespectful, unsafe, or violation of code of conduct behaviors that require immediate response:
Notify the Age Group Coach and GATORS Head Coach
If the age group coach or Head coach are on deck and activley coaching,
please refrain from approaching them and look for a GATORS coach who is available and can assist you with your concern
Notify GATORS Board Member
Board Member will notify Team Parent Representative of the situation
GATORS Team Rep will follow MHSL procdure of alerting Meet Ref and involving other team parent rep, coaching staff as needed
What to expect if you are in violation of Code of Conduct
Any Individual (Coach, Official, Swimmer, Parent, Representative, or Spectator) engaged in disrespectful, unsafe, or violation of Code of Conduct Behaviors will be informed by MHSL Representatives (coach, board member, Meet Ref, Team Representative) May be given a warning, or may be immediatley SUSPENDED from the event, required to leave and not return until suspension is resolved
IF needed law enforcement can be contacted to assist MHSL Representative
GATORS Suspension Review
All suspensions reviews are scheduled within 5 days of the suspension being intiated and are confidential
GATORS Board is notified and selects members to participate in Suspsension Review
MHSL is notified that GATORS Board has initiated Suspsension Review
Meeting with board representatives, head coach, age group coach, and suspended individual to discuss suspension
Steps for resolution to be identified
Resolution Options Include
Suspension lifted: Unrestricted return to GATORS Activities
Suspension lifted: Conditional Return to GATORS Activities
Voluntary Withdraw from GATORS Swim Team (no refund of any fees)
Removal from GATORS Swim Team (no refund of any fees)
MHSL and GATORS Board are provided with Suspension Resolution/Outcome Option
